Men and women who are concerned about Hepatitis C can choose to have this test. Hepatitis C is a viral infection which can cause long term damage to the liver if it is not detected and treated. Many people with Hepatitis C do not have symptoms for several years. The only way to know whether you have Hepatitis C is to get tested.
How long should I wait until I have the test?
You should wait at least 10 days since any incident that you are concerned about before having this test.
What will happen at my appointment?
Your Better2Know clinician will ask you if you have any questions and confirm which test or tests you have chosen. Your instant Hepatitis C test requires a small blood sample. This can be collected from a finger stick. This test is therefore suitable for people who fear needles. Your clinician will collect your sample and run your test.
How long do results take?
Results take around 15 minutes. A control line will appear on the test device when the test has finished. If one line appears the test is negative. If two lines appear then the test is reactive.
