Who should have this test?

The instant Syphilis test is suitable for both men and women who are concerned that they are at risk of Syphilis. Syphilis is a common STI which can be passed on through sexual contact with someone who has Syphilis.

How long should I wait until I have the test?

You should wait nine days since any incident that you are concerned about before having your Syphilis test.

What will happen at my appointment?

Your Better2Know clinician will do their best to make you feel as ease. They will answer any questions that you have about the tests. The Syphilis test needs a few drops of blood to run. This can be from a finger stick. Your sample is then placed in the test cassette with a few drops of buffer to run the test.

How long do results take?

The Syphilis test takes around 10 minutes to run. In this time, other instant tests can be run, or you may be asked to wait. A line will appear on the test cassette when the test is complete. If there is one line, then the test is negative. If there are two lines, then the test is reactive.

What happens if my test is reactive?

If your test is reactive, better2Know will offer you a confirmation test with our accredited laboratory at no further cost. Your Better2Know clinician will take a further blood sample and send it to our accredited laboratory for analysis. We will contact you as soon as we have the results of the confirmation test and arrange the appropriate next steps for you.
